Poseidon Death Oracle

At the southern most tip of the Greek Peloponnese, Cape Tainaron, is the ancient site of what was the Death Oracle and shrine of Poseidon.

All that remains of the shrine is its cannibalized stone that was used to construct the now ruined Chapel. of Asomati

A short walk east leads to a small bay behind which is the Hell’s Mouth, a legendary entrance to the Underworld, guarded by Cerberus.

Fortunately, when we visited in  February 2018,  Cerberus was away on other business. We were therefore  fortunate enough to be safe and able to relax to the  songs of the deceased within the  rattling sound of waves washing across the shingle of the beach..
