Roger Williamson began creating art under the tutelage of his mother, prior to attending junior school.
Born in Loughborough, England, in 1947 and raised in Coventry, Roger Williamson has always had a deep admiration for the French Symbolist painters of the late nineteenth century. Drawing from his esoteric upbringing and practical experiences in magick, mythology, and dream control, he has developed a unique artistic style that is reflected in his paintings and writings.
Williamson’s works can be seen as a theatrical representation of life itself. With a foundation in classical myths and ancient themes, his paintings transport viewers to realms of consciousness through ethereal portraits and vibrant colour palettes. He aims to rekindle a sense of mystery, stimulating the senses and challenging the boundaries of reality.
Using diverse creative media, whether painting or writing books, Williamson endeavours to develop techniques that materialize the sensuous dreaming experience into the language of the waking world. Aspiring to reintroduce mystery and ambiguity back into the adventure of human existence through the creative process, encouraging artistic audiences towards “living effulgent and invigorating lives, revitalized from the secretions of our subconscious.”
Roger Williamson is the creator of Tarot of the Morning Star deck and the author of The Sun at Night.
