The philosophy behind the painting is that successful predators are invisible, until they strike.
How do you spot the successful predator? You don’t.
The painting depicts a young attractive woman who has magnetism to draw her victim to her while at the same time concealing her true intent.
Her magnetism is her air of mystery that is the food of romance. She gives the promise of offering herself yet does not immediately give out and this is her lure.
With her perfume of mystery she encourages her victim on towards the shadows of her lair.
See Brood of the Witch Queen and Jewel of the Seven Stars as examples of this philosophy at work.
