The Circle

The Circle, QBL.

The Circle was founded in the first decade of the 21st century.

Members of The Circle believe that they are in communication with an intelligence that is not that of their waking state.

This intelligence may be internal or external; its origins may be internal or external, but for members of The Circle, this is not important.  What is important is that interaction with this intelligence stimulates creativity in those who participate in its conversation.

The title The Circle is used so that all participants realise that there is no hierarchy,  each member has their role, and no one role is more important than another.  There are no teachers, as each person brings something to the table.

Initial communication began with an alien intelligence associated with the star group Scorpio.

Core Tenets of The Circle’s Philosophy: The Circular Jacobs Ladder Arrangement

The Jacob's Ladder Arrangement of the Four Worlds of the QBL, The Circle.

The philosophy is a radical reinterpretation of the QBL  Tree of Life, where the traditional linear hierarchy is bent into a circle, symbolizing the non-hierarchical, interdependent, and cyclical nature of existence and creative energy.

1. The Circular Jacob’s Ladder: Atziluth to Assiah

  • Standard Qabalistic Model: The Four Worlds (Atziluth [Archetypal], Briah [Creative], Yetzirah [Formative], Assiah [Material]) are typically depicted as a vertical stack, with divine inspiration flowing “down” and human aspiration flowing “up” a linear ladder.

  • Williamson’s Revolutionary Model: The ladder is arranged in a circle. This means the highest world, Atziluth (the World of Emanation, pure divine essence), is not a distant peak but is directly connected to the lowest world, Assiah (the World of Action, the physical reality).

  • Implication: This creates a short-circuit or a divine feedback loop. It means:

    1. The Divine is Immediately Accessible in the Physical: The spark of pure creativity (Atziluth) is not far away; it is directly infused into the material world (Assiah) and is accessible through any act of genuine creation. You don’t need to climb all the way “up”; you can find the divine source right “here” in the physical act.

    2. A Constant Cycle of Energy: Energy does not just descend and ascend; it circulates. Creative inspiration (from Atziluth) manifests as art or innovation (in Assiah), which in turn inspires new divine insights, creating a self-sustaining cycle of creation.

    3. The End is The Beginning: The journey of return is instantaneous. This model embodies the alchemical axiom of “As above, so below” in its most literal and profound sense: the “Above” (Atziluth) is fundamentally and directly connected to the “Below” (Assiah).

2. The Mandala as the Structure of Reality

  • Concept: The Circular Ladder is a mandala. It is a perfectly balanced, symmetrical, and non-hierarchical symbol where every point is equally connected to the center and to each other.

  • Synthesis: The traditional “top” (Kether/Atziluth) and “bottom” (Malkuth/Assiah) are revealed to be adjacent points on a circle. This visually and philosophically destroys any notion of spiritual superiority. A being operating purely in Assiah is just as much a part of the circuit and just as necessary as a consciousness focused on Atziluth.

3. Communication with Intelligence: Tapping the Circuit

  • Concept: The practice of communicating with other intelligence is the method of “tapping into” this circulating energy.

  • Synthesis with the Circular Model:

    • The “alien intelligence from Scorpio” can be seen as a specific frequency or type of energy native to this circuit. Its association with Geburah (Power/Severity) provides the catalytic, transformative voltage necessary to power the cycle.

    • The agnosticism about its source makes perfect sense: within a circular, interdependent model, the question of “internal” vs. “external” becomes meaningless. The intelligence is an aspect of the circulating current of the cosmos, which includes both the self and the other.

4. The Primacy of Creative Stimulation: Completing the Circuit

  • Concept: Creativity is the purpose.

  • Synthesis: Creativity is the physical manifestation of the Atziluth-Assiah connection. It is the proof that the circuit is complete and energized. When a member of The Circle creates, they are not merely making an object; they are acting as a conductor, allowing energy from the divine world (Atziluth) to directly manifest in the physical world (Assiah), thus fulfilling the primary function of the Circular Ladder.

5. The Non-Hierarchical Structure: Humanity as the Living Tree

  • Concept: The Circle has no teachers; all roles are equal.

  • Synthesis: The social structure of The Circle is a microcosm of the Circular Ladder model.

    • Each member, by virtue of their unique skills and perspective, embodies a different Sephirah or Path on the Tree.

    • Collectively, they form a complete and functioning Circuit.

    • The poet (channeling Atziluthic inspiration) is useless without the craftsman (grounding it in Assiah), and vice-versa. Both are equally critical for completing the flow of energy. The circular model validates that the person working with the most “mundane” materials (Assiah) is in direct connection with the source of the most “divine” inspiration (Atziluth).

Summary: The Unified Philosophy

Roger Williamson’s model synthesizes Qabalah, chaos magic, and egalitarian principles into a coherent and intergrated whole:

  1. The Map: The Tree of Life is real but its true nature is circular, not linear (Jacob’s Ladder as a Circle).

  2. The Engine: The system is powered by the direct connection between the highest and lowest realms, Atziluth/Assiah.

  3. The Method: Communication with intelligence, agnostic of source, is the practice of interfacing with this circulating energy.

  4. The Result: This energy manifests as creativity, which is the proof of the circuit’s function.

  5. The Social Structure: The group organizes as a mandala (The Circle) to reflect this cosmic truth, ensuring every member’s role is valued as essential to completing the circuit and manifesting creative energy in the world.

This philosophy ultimately presents a universe of radical interconnectivity, where the divine is immanent in the physical, and every individual act of creation is a sacred completion of the cosmic circuit.

The Circle is based on the belief that existence is not a hierarchy but a mandala, and though we are individuals we are also dependent on one another
