Mystery is Energy
Sphinx, Mystery is Energy
Sphinx, Mystery is Energy, a life journey. Oil on canvas, 48 inches by 72 inches, 2010 Buy Original Painting from Saatchi Art
She expresses Mystery is Energy and when she loses her mystery she dies.
Represents also the mystery of our life journey.
In the back ground is written the riddle of the Sphinx, in jumbled Greek letters, and in the foreground are the dead bodies of her previous lovers.
The aesthetic comes to her passively in contemplation and she meets him as dynamic energy issuing from this contemplation. She confronts us to make us think, to find answers for ourselves, to find our own unique images in the imagined chaos of the universe.
The lasting success of movies such as 2001, is that they are open ended and it is left up to us, the viewers, to imagine and figure out for ourselves whatever meaning may lie in the work.
I used this a detail of this image to represent the Queen of Air in my Tarot of the Morning Star.
Roger Williamson visual artist, resides and creates in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Born in Loughborough, England, in 1947 and growing up in Coventry he was inspired from an early age by the French Symbolist painters of late nineteenth century France,
These artistic influences, in conjunction with his own esoteric upbringing and practical experiences of mythology and dream control, form the matrix, a collective oeuvre upon which his paintings and writings are an extension.
Using diverse creative media, whether painting or writing books, Williamson endeavors to develop techniques that materialize the sensuous dreaming experience into the language of the waking world. Aspiring to reintroduce mystery and ambiguity back into the adventure of human existence through the creative process, encouraging artistic audiences towards “living effulgent and invigorating lives, revitalized from the secretions of our subconscious.”
