Dance For Kali

Hindu Goddess, Dance For Kali An original painting of a woman assuming the god form of Hindu goddess Kali to manifest the Goddesses’ personality within her. To channel and amplify this she dances before the yantra of Kali, the goddesses’ signature which is used like a talisman in the Western Magical Tradition. The skulls represent epochs of time both past and to come.  Kali is a Hindu mother goddess, symbol of time, dissolution and destruction. She destroys ignorance, maintains the world order, and blesses and frees those who strive for the knowledge of eternity. It is Kali who liberates the […]

Hanged Man Explained

Hanged Man Explained An explanation of the Hanged Man according to the philosophy of the Tarot of the Morning Star Consciousness is given up to sleep and our nocturnal eidolon in the image of a bat is released to hunt through our dreams. The self sacrifice of the Hanged Man is the projecting of the reasoning mind into the phantasmagoric realm of conscious dreaming which opens during astral projection or controlled sleep. Tarot of the Morning Star The Tarot of the Morning Star is a small limited edition tarot of only 75 copies, created by Roger Williamson and published in the […]

Serpent Stone

Glain Nadredd Serpent Stone Glain Nadredd the Serpent Stone of Celtic mythology Glain Nadredd is an oil on canvas, 36 inches by 48 inches,. This picture is dedicated to Arthur Machen and his novel The White People. Glain Nadredd is the Serpent Stone of Welsh mythology which were believed to be created by a coming together of snakes, normally occurring in Spring, but more auspicial on May Eve. Odyssey Life Journey

Odyssey Life Journey A pictorial depiction of our journey through life, Odyssey.  Oil on canvas, 36 inches by 72 inches, 2008 re-finished 2011. Original painting available from Saatchi Art I originally finished The Odyssey in 2008 but then reworked it in the fall of 2011 for my show “God Factory”. The Odyssey I believe is the greatest story ever told because it is an allegoric portrayal of the unfolding drama of our lives. We are born and grow in the comfort of our family and then quite suddenly in our teens are ripped out of this environment to go to work or college, for Odysseus, […]

Lost Domaine or Le Grand Meaulnes

Lost Domaine Lost Domaine or Lost Estate, oil on canvas, 72 inches by 36 inches My painting of Lost Domaine is for Alain-Fournier and his novel Le Grand Meaulnes. Le Grand Meaulnes is the only novel by French author Alain-Fournier. Fifteen-year-old François Seurel narrates the story of his relationship with seventeen-year-old Augustin Meaulnes as Meaulnes searches for his lost love. Impulsive, reckless and heroic, Meaulnes embodies the romantic ideal, and the mysterious world between childhood and adulthood. François, the narrator of the book, is the son of the director of the school in a small village in the Sologne, After arriving in class, Augustin Meaulnes soon disappears. He returns from an […]

High Priestess an Explanation

High Priestess Tarot Card, An Explanation High Priestess: The coming of the Witch Queen The High Priestess tarot card represents what is mysterious and intriguing as well as announcing the arrival of psychic revelation. On a more everyday level she can personify how someone sees you, your personality type and your feelings in general. While the major arcana High Priestess maintains her mystery she has power, if she was to reveal her mystery she would lose her power for mystery is energy. It is this quality of the High Priestess that that gives here a correspondence to the sphinx. Because […]

An Explanation on the Design of the Lovers Major Arcana Tarot Card

Lovers from Tarot of the Morning Star Inspiration for my depiction of the Lovers tarot card came in part from Paolo Uccello’s  painting of Saint George and the Dragon. On first view, of Paolo Uccello’s painting it appears the male hero is liberating the maiden from the dragon.  However, on closer scrutiny,  it can be seen that the maiden holds and leads the dragon by the chain around its neck.  The dragon is not her jailor but her pet. The maiden is the symbolic stimulus for overcoming fear for she inflames the hero to action liberating him from what holds him […]
